Not a moving broker

MoveMap is not a moving broker as defined under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules implementing MAP-21. We do not arrange or book interstate household-goods transportation. We do not take payments from visitors for moving services. We do not hold FMCSA operating authority.

Where we link to third-party movers, carriers, container companies, rental-truck services, or labor-only helpers, those providers operate under their own USDOT / MC authorities. Verify any mover you consider using at the FMCSA SAFER System before transacting.

Crime data methodology

Crime statistics are sourced from the FBI Crime Data Explorer (CDE) and reflect what participating local law-enforcement agencies report under UCR / NIBRS. Coverage is incomplete for some jurisdictions. We show rates per 1,000 population, stamped with the reporting year and agency-coverage percentage, and exclude cities with coverage below our threshold. These figures describe reported crime — they do not rank cities by overall safety and should not be used as the sole basis for relocation, real-estate, or safety decisions.

Climate and cost-of-living estimates

Climate comparisons use NOAA 1991-2020 Normals — a 30-year baseline — and may not reflect current short-term conditions or extreme events. Cost-of-living comparisons use BEA Regional Price Parities and BLS CPI at the metropolitan-area level; neighborhood-level costs can differ substantially.
